The highlight of the month was a visit from Malcolm Williams G0ISX, along with his wife, the dedicated repeater keeper of GB3HD.
GB3HD serves as the backbone of communication for most amateur radio enthusiasts in the region and beyond, including Hadars, who rely on the repeater for their Wednesday evening club net—a cherished tradition of friendship and knowledge sharing.
However, amidst the excitement of the visit, sombre news emerged. The repeater building, a crucial hub for connectivity and communication, had fallen victim to vandalism. The security door, essential for safeguarding the irreplaceable equipment housed within, required urgent maintenance—a stark reminder of the vulnerabilities faced by community resources.
In a heart-warming display of solidarity, Hadars wasted no time in stepping up to support their fellow enthusiasts. A generous donation of £200 was made towards the speedy repair of the security door, highlighting the community’s commitment to protecting and preserving their shared interests.
During his visit, Malcolm shed light on the significance of the equipment housed within the repeater building. He emphasized that the loss of this irreplaceable equipment would not only be a blow to Hadars but to the entire amateur community in the area—a sentiment that resonated deeply with all who share a passion for amateur radio.
